Following on from his chat with middleweight contender Mahir Oral 28-2-2 (11), FightFranchise’s Mehmet Pierre ‘Memzero’ Storsberg caught up with Mahir after his impressive tenth round WBA International title victory over Colombian Juan Camilo Novo last Saturday on the big Arena card in Hamburg, Germany to hear his reaction on the win and his options and goals in the future.

Fight three, victory three after the Abraham loss. They say all good things come in threes. Congratulations, great fight and now you are the WBA International champ. What’s next for Mahir Oral?
Mahir: Well the title and victory today was very important for me, to take a good place in the WBA rankings. Maybe I’m now in the top 10 or top 5, and we all know that Felix Sturm is the WBA champ.

Let us take a little look into the future, say summer 2011, is Mahir “The Lion” Oral the World champion having beaten Sylvester or Sturm?
Mahir: Well this is my dream, but I don’t believe that I will get a chance against Sylvester, why would he defend against me in a dangerous voluntary? I can understand this though. Our plan is now to get a good ranking with all four sanctioning bodies.

With Koren Gevor we have one more strong contender here in Germany. Maybe he fights next in England, but when he wins is maybe he an option for you as your next opponent. If you beat him you’ll surely make a big jump in the rankings.
Mahir: Sure, bring a fight again Koren, but unless we have to fight, we wont. We know each other very well from training together. Me and Khoren must look for other options.

In our previous interview you told us you were the sparring partner for Sylvester and he had big trouble with you. In other words, do you think you have the key to victory against Sylvester already in your hands?
Mahir: Well that’s right, I believe I have a really good chance to win the fight, but I told you already, Sylvester will never fight against me voluntarily.

After the step up to super-middleweight for Abraham, the experts all have the same view. Felix Sturm and Kelly Pavlik are now the elite of the middleweight division. Your opinion on this view?
Mahir: This is not right, there are many more good guys in this division, for example Gennady Golovkin is a very strong man, but he doesn’t get the chance because they’re all afraid to lose against him. And don’t forget me, and I have two more guys in my mind. We have plenty of good boxers that are waiting for their chance.

What is your biggest wish right now?
Mahir: My greatest wish is that my career go successful on and that I get my chance for a Title Fight in this year.

Last but not least, have you got a message for your fans?
Mahir: Remains faithful to me, support me. Keep watching my fights, because this is my year.
