Danny Green (30-3, 27 KOs) will defend his IBO cruiserweight title against BJ Flores (24-0-1, 15 KOs) at the Challenge Stadium in Perth, Australia on November 17th.
This should promise to be a great fight, for Flores it’s been a long road to a title shot and for Green this win will hopefully erase some of the doubts over his last farcical fight with Paul Briggs in which there were accusations that the fight was fixed.
After Green defeated Roy Jones Jr by shocking one round knockout in December last year he tried to lure Bernard Hopkins into the ring and then Antonio Tarver to no avail. Now he has perhaps the kind of competition he wanted to prove his worth only it comes in the form of the undefeated Flores who Green will have to convince he is susceptible to a loss.
Flores hasn’t been in the ring since August last year but was sparring regularly with David Haye in preparation for Haye’s fight with John Ruiz and has been sparring also with Chris Arreola. So he has been in with some big punchers something that will no doubt do wonders to prepare him for the heavy handed Green.
