Lucian Bute (27-0, 22 KOs)will defend his IBF super middleweight title against Brain Magee (34-3-1, 24 KOs)at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada,  it was announced today.

The bout will take place on March 19th as Bute plans on staying active whilst sizing up his options for bigger money fights down the line.

Magee, 35, is ranked number eight by the IBF and took the fight after Dimitri Sartison rejected an offer by Interbox.

Bute had a releatively easy nights work in his last outing against the gutsy but limited Jesse Brinkley stopping him in nine rounds in a very one sided action.

Magee hasn”t lost since 2006 and has been described by Interbox as the best super middleweight available. Whether he will be able to cause Bute any problems is probably unlikely but with the best fighters in the division tied up in Showtime”s Super Six tournament there really isn”t that many options out there for the Romanian fighter.

The undercard will include a tilt between IBF super-bantamweight champion Steve Molitor of Sarnia, Ont., (33-1-0, 12 KOs) and Takalani Ndlovu (31-6-0, 18 KOs) of South Africa.
