Jose Benavidez is a man you may not have heard of.....yet. Benavidez however was an outstanding amateur talent. He compiled an outstanding amateur record of 120-5 and was the 2009 National jnr welterweight Golden Gloves champion.

Benavidez has allegedly turned down an offer to sign with Golden Boy Promotions to sign for Bob Arum’s Top Rank organisation. Top Rank President Todd DuBoef announced it  to the media yesteray in Las Vegas.

Benavidez will train under the tutelage of “trainer of the moment” Freddie Roach and will make his debut almost immediately.

His professional debut comes this Saturday on the undercard to Vanes Martirosyan-Kassim Ouma.
