Saturday night sees an enthralling double header at Madison Square Garden. Juan Manuel Lopez who is the WBO super bantamweight world champion moves up to featherweight to taken on excellent WBO feather champion Steven Luevano.

WBA featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa defends his WBA featherweight crown against the mega tough Rogers Mtagwa who so nearly beat Lopez in his last bout.

The general idea is that Lopez and Gamboa both win and then take each other on in a big featherweight super fight in the summer.

However at today’s final press conference before the weigh in, Cuban former amateur superstar Gamboa did not even turn up and there was not really a valid excuse for his absence.

I am pretty sure that I speak for most boxing fans in saying that I hope he decides to arrive at the weigh in and for the fight.
