This Saturday, December 3, 2011 live from the Convention Center in Washington, English Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO) will face the boxer representing perfectly the style of fighting Amir has never met. In defense of his unified titles: WBA and IBF Super Lightweight, Khan will be challenged in the league by Lamont Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KO), American boxer in the charts and not uninteresting style technique, similar to that of the Englishman, knowing that the two men have a significant firepower. Peterson is three years older than Khan, but it is a little precocious genius, Olympic medalist at the age of seventeen. Physically speaking, the two opponents are close, although it should be noted that Khan is three inches taller, while Peterson will be a major asset to reach eight inches higher!


Their careers have started at one year intervals for the American, but he had to prove himself at length before being offered an attractive opportunity. Recognizing the need to be ready "D-Day", he grasped the first opportunity by adorning the NABF light welterweight belt. This success enabled him to meet the same and to undo our Willy Blain national title "interim" WBO Super Lightweight in. It was in April 2009!
As for the young Amir, he made particular learning in 2006, when he was the sparring champion WBA Super Lightweight then, our "Souly" M'Baye lights. In fact, his boxing then turned towards the offensive and poorly organized, earned him the bitter experience of tasting the anvil Breidis, with the key to a defeat by knockout in the first round! After a fall the best medicine and mount a horse, Khan then hastened to meet an old glory in the person of the former multiple champion Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera. After a quick and convincing success, Amir had the opportunity to challenge the WBA champion at the time. That's how in 2009, with the same period that Lamont, Amir disputed title in Super Light. The Ukrainian Andriy Kotelnyk was the one who allowed him to become champion when he defeated the points and gleaned the WBA crown.


Peterson himself, could not bind the fighting. Indeed, during his confrontation with the defending champion "regular" of this title WBO Super Lightweight, there was defeat on points. His compatriot and still undefeated Timothy Bradley (one time seen as an opponent for Khan full reunification of the category), defeated him at the end of twelve times, while making him see the boards in the third round. Indeed, in the period when Khan, accompanied by Roach and attending superstar Manny Pacquiao won in training home of the United States Lamont, it did little more than three fights, let alone opponents easy! Then, to earn the right to face Khan, he took off in a knockout semi-final official FBI, the Dominicans Victor Manuel Cayo. As mentioned above, Khan became a star in America thanks to success in convincing points on Paul Malignaggi, Marcos Rene and Paul McClosey Maidin. Let's not forget his victory before the limit of Zab Judah, allowing it to ward off the IBF crown of the latter.


In the end, Peterson will have to shine in the heart of his hometown. Boxing's stylish, clean and efficient, should allow it to ask very delicate equations champion Khan. We can not stop to ask ourselves about the solutions that Khan will be faced with long jabs Peterson. In the same idea, we are still waiting to see Kahn able to link effectively beyond three or four shots, without falling on his shots at the end of series. The physical transformation experienced by the English, particularly in terms of resistance (remember that face Maidin, Amir was the worst fight hard to finish up after big hits of Argentinian puncher, but are not close to fall), we also left pensive and still needs answers! Let us hope that this fight will headline the weekend, allowing Khan on success, to position itself to incorporate the top of the pound for pound world rankings ...

AMIR KHAN EN DANGER ?



Ce samedi 3 décembre 2011 en direct du Convention Center de Washington, l'Anglais Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO) va affronter le boxeur qui représente parfaitement le style de combattant qu'Amir n'a jamais rencontré. Pour la défense de ses titres unifiés : WBA et IBF des poids Super Légers, Khan sera défié en championnat par ce Lamont Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KO), boxeur Américain au palmarès pas inintéressant et au style très technique, proche de celui de l'Anglais, tout en sachant que les deux hommes ont une puissance de feu non négligeable. Peterson est de trois ans l'aîné de Khan mais ce dernier est un petit génie précoce, médaillé olympique à l'âge de dix sept ans. Physiquement parlant, les deux adversaires sont proches, même s'il est à noter que Khan mesure trois centimètres de plus, tandis que Peterson aura un sérieux atout de huit centimètres d'allonge supérieure !


Leurs carrières ont débutées à une année d'intervalle en faveur de l'Américain, mais celui-ci dut longuement faire ses preuves avant de se voir proposer une opportunité intéressante. Conscient qu'il fallait être prêt "le jour J", il saisissa cette première opportunité en se parant de la ceinture NABF des Super Légers. Ce succès lui permit par la même de rencontrer et de défaire notre Willy Blain national, titre "intérim" WBO des Super Légers en jeu. Ce fut en avril 2009 !
Quant au jeune Amir, il fit notamment son apprentissage en 2006, lorsqu'il fut le sparring du champion WBA des Super Légers d'alors, notre "Souly" M'Baye tricolore. Le temps passa vite pour la petite pépite Anglaise qui, suite à de multiples championnats du Commonwealth, se vit proposer de rencontrer un solide frappeur Colombien alors inconnu : Breidis Prescott! Khan n'avait pas encore rencontré son mentor actuel, l'entraîneur Américain Freddy Roach. De fait, sa boxe de l'époque résolument tournée vers l'offensive et mal organisée, lui valut l'amère expérience de goûter aux enclumes de Breidis, avec à la clé une défaite par KO au premier round ! Après une chute le meilleur remède et de remonter à cheval, Khan s'empressa donc de rencontrer une vieille gloire en la personne de l'ex multiple champion Mexicain : Marco Antonio Barrera. Après un succès rapide et probant, Amir eut l'opportunité de défier le champion WBA du moment. Voilà comment en 2009, à la même période que Lamont, Amir disputa un titre chez les Super Légers. L'Ukrainien Andriy Kotelnyk fut celui qui lui permit de devenir champion lorsqu'il le vainquit aux points et glana cette couronne WBA.


Peterson lui, ne put enchaîner les combats. En effet, lors de sa confrontation avec le tenant du titre "régulier" de ce titre WBO des Super Légers, il se fit terrasser aux points. Son compatriote et toujours invaincu Timothy Bradley (un temps envisagé comme adversaire de Khan pour une réunification totale de la catégorie), le vainquit à l'issue des douze reprises, tout en lui faisant visiter les planches au troisième round. De fait, dans la période où Khan, accompagné de Roach et fréquentant la super star Manny Pacquiao à l'entrainement conquis les U.S.A patrie de Lamont, ce dernier n’eut guère que trois combats et encore moins d'opposants faciles ! En effet, Peterson passa deux tests: Pour le premier, il affronta son compatriote Victor Ortiz dans un combat qu'il eût normalement gagné, si les juges n'avaient vu un nul. Puis, pour gagner le droit d'affronter Khan, il se débarrassa par KO lors d'une officielle demie finale IBF, du Dominicain Victor Manuel Cayo. Comme mentionné plus haut, Khan devint star en Amérique grâce à de probants succès aux points sur Paul Malignaggi, Marcos René Maïdina et Paul McClosey. N'oublions pas non plus sa victoire avant la limite sur Zab Judah, lui permettant ainsi de se parer de la couronne IBF de ce dernier.


Au final, Peterson aura à cœur de briller dans sa ville natale. Sa boxe très stylée, propre et efficace, devrait lui permettre de poser des équations fort délicates au champion Khan. Nous ne pouvons cesser de nous interroger quant aux solutions que Khan devra trouver face aux longs jabs de Peterson. Dans la même idée, nous sommes toujours en attente de voir Kahn capable d'enchaîner efficacement au delà de trois ou quatre coups, sans pour autant tomber sur ses coups en fin de série. La transformation physique qu'a connue l'Anglais, notamment sur le plan de la résistance (rappelons que face à Maïdina, Amir eut les pires difficultés à finir le combat debout suite à de grosses frappes du puncheur Argentin, sans pour autant être proche de tomber), nous laisse également songeur et demande encore des réponses ! Gageons que ce combat sera la tête d'affiche du week-end, permettant à Khan en cas de succès, de se positionner pour incorporer le sommet des classements mondiaux pound for pound...

Peterson détrone Kahn



Au terme de 12 round intenses, l'américain Lamont Peterson (30-1-1, 15 KO) a ravi ses ceintures WBA et IBF à Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO).
Le challenger, qui a survécu à un knockdown au premier round, a effectué un pressing constant sur le champion qui fut averti deux fois pour irrégularités. Deux points de pénalité qui ont pesé sur la carte de deux juges qui donnent la victoire à l'américain 113-112, le troisième voyant Khan s'imposer 114-111.

Au cours de cette réunion le poids Lourds américain Set Mitchell 24-0-1, 17 KO) a préservé son invincibilité en battant par arrêt de l'arbitre au deuxième round Timur Ibragimov 30-4-1, 16 KO). Mitchell a totalement dominé Ibragimov qui n'avait jamais été battu avant le limite.

After 12 intense rounds, the American Lamont Peterson (30-1-1, 15 KO's) thrilled his WBA and IBF belts with Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO).
The challenger, who survived a knockdown in the first round, made a constant pressing of the champion who was warned twice for irregularities. Two penalty points which have weighed on the map of two judges giving the victory to the U.S. 113-112, the third indicator Khan win 114-111.

During this meeting the heavyweight American Set Mitchell 24-0-1, 17 KO) has preserved its unbeaten by beating the referee stop Timur Ibragimov in the second round 30-4-1, 16 KO). Mitchell has totally dominated Ibragimov who had never been beaten before the deadline.

In any case the King Khan no longer reigns when it interferes with his boxing is all very well balanced combination at all but it will not work with all types of opponents, Khan was too confident. Peterson said he wanted to give him his revenge, Khan keeps saying that he was the most consistent fighter for Lamont boxer head forward.

En tout cas le roi Khan ne règne plus quand on perturbe sa boxe, c'est bien beau de balancé des combinaisons à tout va mais ça marche pas avec tout les type d'adversaires, Khan était trop sûr de lui. Peterson a annoncé qu'il voulait lui donner sa revanche, Khan persiste à dire qu'il était le combattant le plus régulier car Lamont boxer la tête en avant.
