Boxing champion Derek Chisora has been spared jail after beating up his girlfriend - allowing him to take on Wladimir Klitschko in a scheduled world heavyweight bout next month.

Chisora, 26, had been warned he faced jail after being found guilty of assaulting Yalda Kontratchy, 24, who has split up from him.

The 6ft 4in fighter slapped the student's face before turning her over and spanking her backside and legs, City of Westminster magistrates court heard.

The jealous heavyweight launched the assault after finding a message on the petite Iranian's phone in which another man called her "babe". Chisora accused her of cheating, then attacked her.

He later admitted to police he had slapped her, although he denied assault.

Attempting to defend his actions, Chisora said the discovery would anger any man.

He was handed a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for two years, and put under 18 months of probation supervision with 150 hours' community service.

He must pay £500 costs and £1,500 compensation to his victim and attend a domestic violence rehab course.

District judge Quentin Purdy said: "Your behaviour was disgraceful and downright humiliating."

That worthless girlfriend of his shouldn't have been talking to some other dude. You don't maintain a relationship with other people if you're in a serious relationship with someone. She deserved a spanking, she deserved to be humiliated.
Chisora shouldn't have slapped her of course, and probably should've just told her to pack up and get out. But there has to be some kind of consequence for stupid behaviors. Chisora's punishment was far worse than his "crime" warranted.
1 - he was done wrong by his girlfriend
2 - he responded by doing wrong to her
Even score.
until 3 - he was punished for evening up the score
Now the weight of karma or fate or fairness is against him... So he's owed something good

Could it be that this incident makes him heavyweight champeen of the wurld!?

Maybe, but do we know the exact situation? The mere fact that someone texts a women calling her "babe" or whatever, doesn't necessarily mean that the woman has really done anything wrong.

Chisora has no chance against Wlad he will be totally dominated.

That's true... I actually couldn't care less about Chisora's personal life. I tune in to watch boxing so I was making a far-fetched argument that karma would be on Chisora's side now, so he might beat Klitschko.

However! I bet he puts up more of a fight than Fraudley did against the Hayefaker!

I would have been rooting for him against Wlad but that is going to be hard now as I men who beat up their other halves are the lowest of the low. To be honest even if she had cheated there is still no reason to physically assault someone. If we all took that attitude then we might as well start condoning the actions of a certain Mrs Bobit who dealt out her own justice for a cheating husband...............ouch!!!

As for the fight I do not think it is as much of a mismatch as people think. If the occasion does not get to Chisora then there could be a shock on the cards. Against Sexton (I know he is not Wlad) Derek showed very good movement, good engine and the ability to adjust to go along with respectable power. To date he has shown to have at least a decent chin or at the least strong enough to not fall after the first punch that lands.

Wlad has a very good jab and is very cautious but we know what his chin is like and also his stamina is suspect. If Derek comes to fight Wlad might have to fight to level he was probably not expecting too.

I'm wondering if Chisora will attempt to kiss Wlad during the staredown, or bite him during the fight. A pissed off Wlad that's trying to destroy his opponent might actually make for an exciting performance, at the very least it should make Wlad fight with a bit of fire.
