Haye Breaks Silence: Tells Why Klitschko Fights Fell Apart
Haye Breaks Silence: Tells Why Klitschko Fights Fell ApartBy Mark Vester http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=30551WBA heavyweight champion David Haye broke his silence on the failed negotiations to make fights with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko and younger brother Wladimir Klitschko, the WBO/IBO/IBF champion. Haye went into detail on the contract negotiations, why the fights continue to fall apart and why the negotiations will continue to fall apart in the future. The majority of Haye's venom was aimed at the recent negotiations to make a fight with Wladimir. "I wanted 50/50. That's what I said from the start. If you give me 50% maximum of all of the territories, of all the ticket sales....the fight is going to happen. He didn't want that to happen. The reason being, he's tied into a TV contract. He's got a multi-fight deal with RTL, a German television network. I know there's more money to be had in Germany because I've been talking to the television networks and there's more money to be had," Haye said. "He's not willing to put the maximum from his territory into the pot. I'm doing that. He's not doing that and that's totally unacceptable for me." "I gave him an alternative. [I said] you keep 100% of your RTL money and I can keep 100% of the UK money. We split everything else 50/50 and we get the fight done. [He said] no. He totally didn't answer that, didn't accept that, and the fight is not happening because of that. I gave him two options. He flat out refused both of them." Haye then took shots at Wladimir's opponent for September 11, Samuel Peter, and Vitali's choice for October 16, Shannon Briggs. "He signs to fight Samuel Peter....someone that his brother smashed to pieces the other day, and his brother signs to fight Shannon "Asthma Pump" Briggs. I'm going to be announcing another opponent. I'm not willing to submit to their crap. They think they deserve it their way...I don't."

Re: Haye Breaks Silence: Tells Why Klitschko Fights Fell Apa
Haye is really to blame imo for the fight not happening.
He was giving two options to the Klitschkos. In one option, it would involve, (or risked), the Klitschkos breaking their deal with RTL. Obviously they aren't going to like that, and understandably so.
In the other option, Haye may perhaps have earned the greater share of the money through UK PPV.
Now given that either Klitschko has a higher status as "champion" than Haye does, it's also understandable that they wouldn't like the idea of Haye maybe earning more money for the fight.
The Klitschkos may have offered him pretty bad contracts in the past, but this time I don't see how you can comlain about a 50/50 offer. Maybe there was more money to be made in Germany if the Klitschkos weren't tied into a contract with RTL, but so what?
Just take the 50/50 split and make the fecking fight! I'm sure Haye would be making good money whatever.
And as for Audley Harrison...

What Haye is demanding, is 50/50 taking into account a hypothetical situation that if the Klitschkos weren't under contract then you could perhaps generate more money from the German market. So really, as it could easily be looked at, Haye is demanding 55/45 in his favour. (Of course, the percentage that Haye would really earn would depend on the success of the UK PPV.) I wouldn't say that Haye doesn't want the fight. I haven't seen any proof of that. But to me, it looks like this fight isn't happening because Haye had an ego attack. A fair deal was on the table for him.

Re: Haye Breaks Silence: Tells Why Klitschko Fights Fell Apa
I would consider Haye legit if he fought some stiffer competition. Povetkin, Adamek, Arreola, Solis, Peter, Chagaev, Chambers, or even Dimitrenko would help. Beat those guys and he's legit. The problem is all he's done is call out the Klitschkos... now he MUST fight them or be labeled a coward... and he sure looks like a coward. And that's hard to do when you're stepping in a ring to fight guys who want to kill you. But Haye forced this situation on himself. Had he come into heavyweight and earned 5-6 worthy victories in the last 2 years he wouldn't have to call out the K bros. All the fans and media pundits would do it for him. But as it stands he looks the patsy, hypocrit, and chicken. Take the amount you've been offered and get on with it, if you're truly worth my time Haye! I mean didn't you see what happened to Valuev? He turns down the first offer so then Vitali offers less... that's gonna happen to David too; and it should just for putting all of us through these shenanigans.
