Post Marciano - Ali

Post Re: Marciano - Ali
In 1969, Murry Worona became known for making it all boxing fans around the world have ever dreamed: to confront the greatest champions of different eras. It presents the United States two computer tournaments, the first weight, the other heavy-duty trucks, including Sugar Ray Robinson and Rocky Marciano were victorious.
Murry Worona praised the NC 315 supercomputer, which it has provided hundreds of thousands of information on the fighters. The machine has swallowed, digested and interpreted the data credible, before describing round by round what would have happened if the fighting had really happened. The result had also seemed logical and no one was seriously discussed. Marciano defeated Dempsey and Joe Louis in the final beat Ali in the quarterfinals. After all, Marciano with 49 victories including 43 by knockout and Robinson were not they considered the best boxers of all time?
There was however a protester who, on learning outcomes, has laughed. Muhammad Ali never missed an opportunity to talk about him

and he always had in his mouth a declaration or decision, often fierce and relevant at a time. "This is a loser Marciano, give me and I e the massacre," he said. Worona, sensing when the right time, the idea of setting up this confrontation impossible.
Rocky Marciano is the only world champion to have retired truck in full glory, fortune made, world champion undefeated after six title defenses. He had a reputation as a champion hard, loyal and clever but very generous. He died on 1 September 1969 to 46 years, his birthday, the victim of a plane crash. But a year later, we shall see face Muhammad Ali on all screens throughout the world at that time. How such a fight he has been possible?
Worona contacted Marciano and Ali, who was banned from boxing for three years. After obtaining their consent, he met secretly for three days in a boxing gym in Miami.
Marciano had left the ring in 1956 and had evidently gained weight in 13 years. Heavy and shortness of breath, he was a quiet businessman. To please the producer but also to be presentable and self-esteem, he agreed to make sacrifices and managed to lose 25 kg! Ali had fought his last fight March 22, 1967 Zora Folley beating under the name of Cassius Clay. He was far from the comeback he would make a year later.
During these three days of filming, the two champions executed the orders of the computer. They gave way to every whim of the machine, making nearly 70 rounds strenuous. There were no unwelcome round, no action can, a real fight just respect the orders of the computer. All that was asked was scrupulously carried out, with passion and conviction. As for the test to be valid, it was obvious that the two men play
thoroughly, without cheating. They left happy, but exhausted and weary, as if they had to play a real world championship. But mostly they did not know the verdict of the machine, several versions have been filmed. For the record Worona found out later that in the heat of the moment, Marciano and Ali were each sent to the ground regardless of the computer!
During the months that followed the shooting, until his death, Marciano retained a deep affection for Ali. The fight was broadcast seven months later simultaneously in 850 theaters in the United States and in almost every country in the world. In Paris, the promoter Charley Michaelis had organized a party at the Rex cinema, January 21, 1970. Before the screening, Paris had been opened and Ali was the favorite against 5 to 6. The day prior to the making, Muhammad Ali shouted across: "I would get rid of Rocky by KO in the 5th round!"
The film was very good and the game as exciting as a real fight. Of course, Rocky had a waist that made him endearing advantageous. For his part, Ali was slower and hopping before.
Ali starts the fight with drums beating, he hammers the face of Rocky with direct and fast dry. In the second round of the arcade right Marciano bursts, the sixth is the left that gives, in the 8th round is sent to the mat and counted. The game takes place in a typical scenario for Ali and Rocky will apparently it suffer the fate of the 29 previous opponents of Cassius Clay.
Then the battle switches, Marciano, his face bloodied, bristled, in turn pounded regularly with short hooks and deadly dry, the sides of Ali. As a boar he throws himself into the fight with all that

remaining strength and courage. In the 10th round and the 12th, Ali is sent to earth. It is hoped now that the fight ends with a verdict of parity, but 72 seconds after the start of the 13th recovery, reaching fifteen successive left Ali and final submission to the mat. Muhammad Ali has just suffered its first defeat, the first KO of his life ... hands of a boxer of 47 years (19 more than him) who dropped the ring for 13 years and above ... been dead six months!
On the evening of the broadcast, Ali accepts loyally defeat. Live from Madison Square Garden, and he spoke in a trembling voice said: "Rocky would have liked to see it, damn it would have liked. It was my boyfriend, a nice guy, but that's an odd effect receive a stamp by a death. "
That evening we discovered the true face of Clay, a true man, kind and gentle, a man of great class.
