UNE NOUVELLE ETRILLE A MANILLE?

Avec un titre pareil, tous les amateurs ne peuvent s'empêcher de penser à Ali vs Frazier III... A l'évocation de ces quelques mots nous vient à l'esprit la notion de : choc titanesque, affrontement épique, duel au sommet... Il est donc à souhaiter que le combat du onze décembre prochain en direct de l'Ynares Sports Arena de Manille, nous offre un championnat des Mouches WBO de premier ordre.


Ce combat va mettre aux prises deux stars mondiales des petites catégories. En effet, l’Hawaïen Brian Viloria (29-3, 16 KO) après une brillante carrière amateur au cours de laquelle il fut champion du monde, passa professionnel avec un certain engouement du public Américain "Hawaï étant le plus récent des états Américains". A cette période au début de la décennie 2000, les U.S.A cherche un successeur aux prestigieux ex-champions Johnny Tapia, Danny Romero ou encore Michaël Carbajal... Viloria qui fut éliminé des jeux de Sydney par notre Brahin Asloum national, s'adjoint dans un premier temps les services de Freddie Roach. Appuyé par une bonne machine promotionnelle et une forte présence sur les réseaux télévisuels Américains, Viloria s'empare lors de son dixième combat du titre NABF vacant, seulement un an après son passage chez les professionnels. Six combats de plus au compteur et Brian se voit offrir l'opportunité de décrocher le titre WBC des Mi Mouches face au Mexicain Eric Ortiz. Très motivé, Viloria ne mettra qu'un petit round pour passer un superbe KO au malheureux Ortiz. A ce moment de sa carrière, le ciel de Viloria semble radieux et dégagé, lui laissant entrevoir "le paradis" ! Oui mais voilà, lors de sa deuxième défense de titre face au Mexicain Omar Nino Romero, Brian s'est vu déclarer battu à l'unanimité des trois juges. Dans les trois mois une revanche lui est offerte, la petite star ne saurait rester sans son titre. Pourtant, à l'issue d'un combat engagé où les juges donnèrent une décision de parité, Biran se fit contrôler positif à l'usage de narcotique... Quelques mois passèrent et lorsque l'on possède une bonne machine promotionnelle derrière soit tout est plus simple en boxe car, Brian se vit encore donner l'opportunité de récupérer ce titre des Mi Mouches WBC devenu vacant ! Mais encore une fois la chance sembla bouder Brian qui vit le Mexicain Edgar Sosa s'emparer de cette ceinture qu'il gardera un bon moment. A ce stade de carrière Viloria sembla avoir usé toutes ses cartouches. Logiquement, il repassa par la case "petits combats" afin de se refaire une santé pugilistique durant deux ans. Avec son nouveau coach Roberto Garcia, Brian se prépara comme un damné pour ce qui lui sembla être sa dernière opportunité mondiale. Face à lui encore une fois dirions nous, se dressa le Mexicain Ulises Solis détenteur pour sa part du titre IBF des Mi Mouches. Viloria donna tout dans ce combat, il sembla déborder Solis dans tous les compartiments afin de décrocher par KO lors du onzième round ce titre mondial qui lui manquait tant ! Après la première défense de son bien Viloria affronta dans un combat relevé, le Colombien Carlos Tamara. Même si l’âpreté du duel fut sans conteste, Brian fut en tête sur les cartes des juges à l'appel du douzième et dernier round. Le petit Hawaïen fit l'erreur de se relâcher et grâce à une superbe accélération, son challenger imposa à l'arbitre l'arrêt du combat. Depuis ses défaites successives entre 2006 et 2007 Viloria dut se trouver d'autres soutiens, les Philippines furent sa nouvelle patrie d'adoption en 2009. Sa terre d'accueil ne le lâcha pas à l'issue de son dernier revers, et lui permit de tenter sa chance dans la catégorie des Mouches. En juillet dernier, Brian s'empara de la couronne WBO du Mexicain Miranda et se vit par la même titré dans une deuxième catégorie.


Pour cette première défense, la tâche de Viloria sera tout sauf aisée ! En effet, l'ex champion WBA-WBO des Mi-Mouches le Mexicain Giovanni Segura (28-1-1, 24 KO) se dresse face à lui. Segura est une vraie force de la nature dans ces petites catégories. Un physique redoutable allié à une puissance incroyable dans les jambes, lui procurent une force de frappe peu commune à ce poids de cinquante kilos. Durant la carrière de Giovanni, ce dernier n'a jamais apprécié qu'on lui résiste ! Lorsqu'en début de carrière les juges décidèrent qu'il fît match nul face à son opposant d'un jour, Segura le mit KO dès le premier round dans leur seconde opposition. De même, lorsqu'il se vit pour la première fois déclaré battu aux points pour le titre "intérim" WBA des Mi-Mouches, Giovanni remis les pendules à l'heure lors de la revanche. Quatre rounds seulement lui auront permis de détruire César Canchila. Dans cette notion, il est clair de constater que Segura enfile les KO comme d'autres enfilent des perles... Nous pouvons d'ailleurs relever sa double performance face au Porto-Ricain précédemment invaincu Ivan Calderon. L'ancien monarque des Pailles et des Mi-Mouches WBO vécut un double calvaire face au Mexicain en se faisant stopper deux fois avant la limite !


Au final nous pouvons nous interroger quant à l'issue de ce combat. D'un coté nous avons un Giovanni qui préféra monter de catégorie plutôt que d'affronter le génial Roman Gonzalez. Pour autant à ce jour, peu de choses ou d'hommes semblent capable d'arrêter le bulldozer Mexicain. En face, nous avons un Brian jamais si fort que lorsqu'il se retrouve dos au mur où en quête de titre. Il est aussi notable que lors de ses défenses de titres, l'adage qui veut qu'il soit plus facile de devenir champion que de le rester s'applique à merveille au cas de Viloria !
Bien que peu populaire dans les pays occidentaux, nous ne pouvons que vous conseiller de vous intéresser à ce duel, vous avez de grandes chances de passer un très bon moment devant ce choc !

Viloria stoppe Ségura


Le champion WBO des poids Mouche, l'américain d'Hawai Brian Viloria (30-3, 17 KO) a conservé son titre en battant le mexicain Giovani Segura (28-2-1, 24 KO) par arrêt sur blessure au huitième round cette nuit à Manille. Viloria avec ou sans la blessure de Ségura a toujours été devant et se dirigeait vers une confortable victoire aux points. Ala fin du troisième round le coté droit du visage de Ségura était déjà enflé par la précision des gauches de Viloria. La fin du combat est survenue à la huitième reprise quand une nouvelle gauche a considérablement aggravé le gonflement sur le visage de Ségura.

Viloria with or without injury Segura has always been front and was heading for a comfortable win on points.
