Post Re: Pacquiao vs Margarito . Your thoughts?
I have only watched the highlights so far but Manny did look impressive. However, it would be hard not to fighting against a moving punch bag. Margirito turned in a similar performance as Clottey which was of a fighter who was just happy to last the distance. The time where Manny went to the ropes, I think he was hoping to entice a more aggressive response from his opponent but to no avail.

I will say I am getting a little annoyed about all of these so called championships that Manny has been given. The reason I say given is because for his last to titles as a challenger his has got to stipulate the weight that each fighter can come in at which takes away a bit of the gloss for me. Mayweather was slated for not making the weight against Marquez and Manny feeding on weight drained opponents is no better.

I think I preferred the weigh-ins on fight day as then you be fighting in your true division instead having middleweights starving themselves for pay day as they know they can rehydrate for a full and a half.

I have to admit that Margarito turned in a slightly better performance than ODLH did. Slightly.
The end was never in question though, and the fact remains that the cheater would never have gotten this fight if he wasn't promoted by Arum.
I hate to say this too, but I felt like Manny was being rather generous in both the fight and the interview. In the fight he clearly laid off in the last couple rounds. And in the interview, when he said he was hurt and that he was lucky to win.... ? .... bull. Maybe he was hurt for a moment but he wasn't lucky to win! He obliterated that statue in front of him... and I can't help but wonder why he sat back on the ropes for Margarito to come at him? He never does that. But against a fellow Bob Arum promoted guy he does? Something just didn't seem right...

I wouldn't look that far into it, I don't think Manny is the type to make his opponent look good just because because he happens to share the same promoter. A Filipino buddy of mine said that the day after the fight Manny was giving an interview to a Filipino reporter on tv and he was asked about the ropes. Manny said that he did it against Marg and Cotto because he wanted to prove he was tough enough to take their shots and fire back. He said that most people come to see slugfests so he obliged them a little.

About the lucky to win thing, he always gives his opponents a super amount of respect afterward. I saw one interview where he claimed his wins over DLH and Hatton were tough, grueling contests that pushed him to his limit. I think it's just his way to try and stay humble.

To me, Manny looks pretty much unbeatable at this point, as long as he stays at 147.

i used to think that way too but how do you counter someone that throws punches like pacquiao does?

after a while he is gonig to get you

i think Floyd is the better boxer but Manny breaks peoples will look at what he did to a man that outweighed him by 17 lbs - a man that Mayweather wouldn't get in the ring with even for 8 million

Manny is a beast i don't think there is a man alive that can handle Pacquiao right now

The only worry is that Pacquiao likes to prove himself, like woot said... he puts himself in dangerous positions to show that he can take it, then dish it out even more ferociously. It makes for great boxing - but you wouldn't really use the word "wise" to describe it; especially against a confident Mayweather.

That being said, if Manny wants to, he'd box absolute circles around Floyd, hit him more than he's ever been hit, and get a hard earned UD over Floyd. If that joker ever fights Manny that is. Maybe Pacman can visit him in jail and they'll have the fight in the prison yard.

Haha! The only problem with that scenario uppercutter, is that even if Manny followed Floyd to prison, Floyd would probably find some way to get tossed in solitary confinement, thereby finding another way to duck Pac, even in jail.
