Pavlik stopped for traffic offenses


Kelly Pavlik was arrested in Canfield, Ohio on Wednesday night after colliding with a lamppost and a phone booth with his quad, former middleweight champion was arrested for driving under the influence alcohol according to the police report.
When the officers came to investigate, Pavlik's friend Daniel Ferreri claimed that it was he who drove the quad, the police report indicates that the former champion began to get aggressive with the police, who was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Pavlik and his friend were later arrested for obstruction of justice for refusing to submit to a breath test. The charges against the boxer are: Driving under the influence, failure to stop and keep control of his vehicle. He was released and will appear in court soon.
Pavlik had become unified WBC and WBO champion of average weight in 2007 against Jermain Taylor, he suffered a first defeat to Bernard Hopkins, getting into the top category, then sold its shares in a second defeat by Sergio Martinez. He attempted a return to the ring after alcohol problems, but his fight with Alfonso Lopez ended in a controversial decision and an average performance of Pavlik.

Kelly Pavlik a été arrêté à Canfield dans l'Ohio mercredi soir après avoir percuté un lampadaire et une cabine téléphonique avec son quad, l'ancien champion des poids moyens a été arrêté pour conduite sous influence alcoolique selon le rapport de police.
Quand les officiers sont venus enquêter, l'ami de Pavlik Daniel Ferreri a prétendu que c'est lui qui conduisait le quad, le rapport de police indique que l'ancien champion a commencé à devenir agressif avec les forces de l'ordre, qui le suspectait d'être sous l'influence de l'alcool ou de stupéfiants. Pavlik ainsi que son ami ont ensuite été arrêté pour obstruction à la justice pour avoir refusé de se soumettre au test d'alcoolémie. Les charges retenues contre le boxeur sont: Conduite sous influence, incapacité de s'arrêter et de garder le contrôle de son véhicule. Il a été relâché et devra comparaître devant la cour prochainement.
Pavlik était devenu champion unifié WBC et WBO des poids moyen en 2007 face à Jermain Taylor, il subit une première défaite face à Bernard Hopkins en montant dans la catégorie supérieure, puis céda ses titres dans une deuxième défaite devant Sergio Martinez. Il tenta un retour sur le ring après des problèmes d'alcool, mais son combat face à Alfonso Lopez se termina par une décision controversée et une performance moyenne de Pavlik.
