Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time
Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time was published in 2003, the writers of Ring Magazine ranked the 100 greatest punchers of all-time. Re: Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time
I think McClellan was a huge puncher, but who exactly did he knock out apart from Jackson,Mugabi ? i believe he was a huge puncher, but was he a proven world class puncher to say "yeah lets rank him 27th amongst the 100 greatest punchers of all time" not for me. Terry Norris was a bigger puncher than given credit for, but he was not really what id consider a big puncher, he was a consistent combination puncher more than anything. He like McClellan also destroyed Mugabi early. I like Vitali Klitschko's power, size and strength, and i think he would of been a handful for any ATG HW just based on his size and his chin, but i cant rank him amongst those guys even though i believe, he would of beaten some of them, because he has not proved himself with wins over other great HW. No question McClellan was a huge hitter, but i think he is ranked to highly based on achievement as a big puncher, if that makes sense

Re: Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time
I cant believe they have Holyfield over Benn The only case i could make for Holyfield was his knockdown of Riddick Bowe in the 3rd fight, and the fact he was able to put Tyson away. Tyson took some major league shots before being stopped, and Bowe previous to the 3rd Holyfield fight was being hurt by Herbie Hide. Bowe was clearly not the same Riddick Bowe of old. Take a look at Holyfield teeing off on little Bobby Czyz and the only conclusion you will come to is, he is not a big puncher. Accumulation is Holy's game, he is not a big puncher. Lets take a look at Benn record, he knocked De Witt out out, something Tommy Hearns could not do, and he stopped Iran Barkley. Another fighter Hearns could not put away. I take the point De Witt/Barkley were probably not the fighters they were, when they fought Hearns, but i think these two knockouts along with Benn's other stoppages throughout his career trumps Holy's all day long.
