For me he only cracks the top 15-just. More worthy greats in front of him. He may have been the last great in recent years. The KO loss to McCall and Rahman hurt his legacy IMO.

the true greats don,t get knocked out by single shots especially at or near their prime in the way lewis did twice. i,d put him in the bottom half of the top 20 at best..he could have been much better than he was..if we said holyfield was a great over achiever then lewis is the contrary.

The loss to McCall was disappointing but I have a different view about the loss to Rahman. He was 36/37 years of age and by no means in his prime. How many other heavyweight greats from the past were getting stopped at that age and at that stage of their careers? Yet he bounced back an reclaimed the title and not only defated (albeit washed up) biggest name of his generation but also defaet the most dominant heaveyweight since Lennox retired. Definitely underrated in my view as is the case with most of the recent heavyweights greats post the Ali era. Along with Marciano he is the only heavyweight champ who has defeated everyone he has faced and yet Rocky is considered one of the best ever. I am sure Lennox would also be undefeated if he fought 40 somethings and former lightheavyweight champions throughout his championship days. What makes a great is how he comes back from defeat or deals with adversity which looking at his reusme has earned him top 10 status IMO.

To me Lewis was better than the two Klitschos but his reign at the top did have a lot to do with superior reach,height and weight advantages over his peers,IMO Holyfield shld be rated Higher in any all time rating,Though would rather have Lewis kicking about than the dismal situation we have today
