Lindsay had his tactics spot on, started off better and was quicker to the punch.
Disappointed for Appleby but it's good experience for him and it was a nice victory for Lindsay.

Good fight. I personally felt the stoppage was a disgrace, Appleby looked hurt, but was able to continue, and it should have been left to carry on.
Steve Bunce was pissed as a fart. Couldn't control hinslef

Well maybe the stoppage was slightly premature considering Appleby had the belt but he did look hurt. He's young enough to come back though..
Missed seeing it live but should have recorded it to see Buncey, lol

The stoppage was probably about 30 seconds premature. However you could see Appleby was out of it when they lead him back to the corner. When i first saw the stoppage i thought bad stoppage but when i saw Appleby walk back to his corner i was thinking maybe it was good stoppage.
I think Appleby has a good chin. Not to say people are questioning his punch resistance. The problem for him though imo was that he punched himself to a stand still. We know as Boxing fans how much easier it is to hurt someone when they are tired. I believe Appleby paid the price for setting such a pace.
Great fight though. Lindsay's counter punching was bang on.

Re: Paul Appleby vs Martin Lindsay *Spoiler*
I though the stoppage was premature at the time but like Fabregas said Appleby was in a bit of a state when led to his corner. I think the head was clear but the legs were gone.
This surprised me, i really thought that Appleby would win this and go on to major things but he seems to have hit the wall with regards to improvement. He is a really good fighter but it seems to me that when he won the title he got hit far too often and in his fights since is still getting hit the same amount. Seems like he needs a bit more head movement.
Still great win for Lindsay. David Haye was talking before the fight and he seemed 100% sure that Lindsay would win and that he was a special talent. I might be tempted to agree now.

Yep I agree Appleby did get caught a bit too much, but he's still a young guy learning his trade.
Hopefully he can tighten his defence a bit.
Maybe you could argue the ref was a little intimidated by the home crowd as well, as regards the premature stoppage.

Can always be a problem, home turf, with premature stoppages. But if Appleby would have continued would he have lasted, probably not but what a good fight between 2 talented guys
