We want Froch, Kessler and Ward in 2012

Carl Froch may not have delivered his best fight with Andre Ward in the final of the Super Six in the last weekend. In any case, Ward was an opponent against whom it is difficult to look good.

Ward is a type of boxer who is able to expose all the weaknesses of his opponents. But I think Lucian Bute has more power than Ward, and it is here, I think Froch would see the difference.

I know some have argued that there could be two possible fighting between Froch and Lucian. For my part, I prefer not to comment on what happens in the ring. As for negotiations, I leave everything to my boss Jean Bedard, but I would just say that I make a fight at a time. If there was a second game later, we cross the river at that time.

As for the possibility of facing Andre Ward, the winner of the Super Six, it seems that does not want to cross swords with Lucian. You can not force him to fight if he does not. He has special reasons not to compete with Lucian, but I feel he thinks he has too much to lose in case of defeat.



Ward is not consistent with himself because he was a year ago, he said he would like to fight with Bute after the tournament that just ended. Meanwhile, he changed his story. I get the impression that the way in which Luician beat Glen Johnson last November made him change his mind.

As for me, it did not matter if Ward does not face Lucian immediately because I think that the year 2012 will address all issues. At present the world of boxing, there are two categories to attract attention. Maywheater that of Floyd and Manny Pacquiao in 147 pounds and that of Lucian Bute in 168 pounds. Strangely, we do not talk trucks. We feel therefore that is where it happens and we are where we wanted to be and we will enjoy while we're there. We want to resolve all issues and answer any questions next year.

In 2012, it is Froch, Mikkel Kessler and Ward. These are the three names that Lucian would add to his list of conquests. In addition, we know that these three names will interest many American television. We can even add the name of Bernard Hopkins to the list.

Hopkins would also be an interesting opponent because he has good credibility in the United States. On the other hand, if Lucian Hopkins decisively defeated, clans Ward and Froch will say that Bute beat a guy of 47 years and it has a different value. So you will understand in the circumstances, we do not have much to gain. This is simply an interesting fight that fans might like to see, but not as much as Froch, who has already sold half the battle in my opinion.

I feel that Ward is becoming the old Bernard Hopkins. As for the new Hopkins, it has not often seen this year. If it were released in the United States as he came out here in Quebec, it would have been much more popular. Hopkins was one of the most unsung champions in history.

It is a reality that has marked the career of Hopkins as he arrived full of things like we saw in his last fight against Chad Dawson when he fell and he was injured. His fight against Roy Jones in April 2010 was one of the most frustrating I've seen. In fact, I wish that I repay my evening so I was disappointed. Hopkins had fallen twice in five minutes as a result of low blows before coming back to win. The worst part is that it was not even Jones, who was responsible for low blows. On one occasion we saw Jones to charge Hopkins, but it was lying on the carpet lamenting. Hopkins was the general as he is able to do so. Basically, it does more harm than good because the fans will remember him mainly for his circus rather than its successes.

Despite its shortcomings, I think that Hopkins still has good credibility in his country. Hopkins would fight against Lucian's career in the United States. The name of Bute is a growing dealer from south of the border, but we know that there is still work to do.

Back in training and development

Lucian is back in the gym. He is currently the bodybuilding and fitness. It will provide gloves in January.

As a group, our goals in 2012 are to stay the course and to gradually expand in the United States. We want to make the promotion on the other side of the border and increase our field of recruitment. We would like to attract American boxers in our lap.

Lucian had another very good year and I would give it a 9 out of 10. He has done a tremendous job, but there is nothing perfect and there is still work to do. In my case, I give a rating of 7 out of 10. I think I can do better and I have to keep working hard like I do all the time.

Carl Froch n'a sans doute pas livré son meilleur combat face à Andre Ward en finale du Super Six au cours du dernier week-end. De toute façon, Ward est un adversaire contre qui il est difficile de bien paraître.

Ward est un type de boxeur qui est en mesure d'exposer toutes les faiblesses de ses adversaires. Mais je pense que Lucian Bute a plus de puissance que Ward, et c'est à ce niveau, je pense que Froch verrait la différence.

Je sais que certains ont avancé qu'il pourrait y avoir éventuellement deux combats entre Froch et Lucian. De mon côté, je préfère ne commenter que ce qui se passe sur le ring. Quant aux négociations, je laisse le tout à mon parton Jean Bédard, mais je dirais simplement que je prépare un combat à la fois. S'il y avait un deuxième affrontement plus tard, on traversera la rivière à ce moment-là.

Quant à la possibilité d'affronter Andre Ward, le gagnant du Super Six, il semble qu'il ne veut rien savoir de croiser le fer avec Lucian. On ne peut pas le forcer à se battre s'il ne veut pas. Il a des raisons particulières pour ne pas se mesurer avec Lucian, mais j'ai l'impression qu'il pense qu'il a trop à perdre en cas de défaite.



Ward n'est pas conséquent avec lui-même parce qu'il y a un an, il avait déclaré qu'il aimerait se battre avec Bute après le tournoi qui vient de prendre fin. Entretemps, il a changé son histoire. J'ai comme l'impression que la façon avec laquelle Luician a battu Glen Johnson en novembre dernier lui a fait changer d'idée.

Quant à moi, ce n'est pas bien grave si Lucian n'affronte pas Ward immédiatement parce que je pense que l'année 2012 permettra de régler tous les dossiers. À l'heure actuelle dans le monde de la boxe, il y a deux catégories qui retiennent l'attention. Celle de Floyd Maywheater et Manny Pacquiao chez les 147 livres et celle de Lucian Bute chez les 168 livres. Étrangement, on ne parle pas des poids lourds. On sent donc que c'est là que ça se passe et nous sommes où nous voulions être et nous allons en profiter pendant que nous y sommes. On veut régler tous les dossiers et répondre à toutes les questions l'an prochain.

En 2012, on vise Froch, Ward et Mikkel Kessler. Ce sont les trois noms que Lucian aimerait ajouter à son tableau de chasse. En plus, on sait que ces trois noms vont intéresser beaucoup la télévision américaine. On peut même ajouter le nom de Bernard Hopkins à cette liste.

Hopkins serait aussi un adversaire intéressant parce qu'il a une bonne crédibilité aux États-Unis. D'un autre côté, si Lucian bat Hopkins de façon décisive, les clans Ward et Froch vont dire que Bute a vaincu un gars de 47 ans et que ça n'a pas la même valeur. Vous comprendrez donc dans les circonstances, nous n'avons pas grand-chose à gagner. Ce serait simplement un combat intéressant que les amateurs aimeraient peut-être voir, mais pas autant que Froch, qui a déjà vendu la moitié de la bataille selon moi.

J'ai l'impression que Ward est en train de devenir l'ancien Bernard Hopkins. Quant au nouveau Hopkins, on ne l'a pas vu souvent cette année. S'il était sorti aux États-Unis comme il est sorti ici au Québec, il aurait été nettement plus populaire. Hopkins a été un des champions les plus méconnus de l'histoire.

C'est une réalité qui a marqué la carrière de Hopkins car il lui est arrivé plein de choses comme on l'a vu lors de son dernier combat contre Chad Dawson alors qu'il a chuté et qu'il s'est blessé. Son combat contre Roy Jones en avril 2010 a été l'un des plus frustrants que j'ai vu. D'ailleurs, j'aurais aimé qu'on me rembourse ma soirée tellement j'ai été déçu. Hopkins était tombé deux fois en cinq minutes à la suite de coups bas avant de revenir pour gagner. Le pire, c'est que ce n'était même pas Jones qui était responsable des coups bas. À une occasion, on a vu Jones faire payer Hopkins, mais ce dernier s'est couché au tapis en se lamentant. C'était du grand Hopkins comme il est capable de le faire. Dans le fond, il se fait plus de mal que de bien parce que les amateurs se souviennent surtout de lui pour son cirque plutôt que pour ses bons coups.

Malgré tous ses travers, je pense que Hopkins a quand même une bonne crédibilité dans son pays. Se battre contre Hopkins aiderait la carrière de Lucian aux États-Unis. Le nom de Bute est de plus en plus vendeur chez nos voisins du Sud, mais on sait qu'il y a encore du travail à faire.

De retour à l'entraînement et expansion

Lucian est de retour au gymnase. Il fait actuellement de la musculation et du conditionnement physique. Il remettra les gants en janvier.

En tant que groupe, nos objectifs en 2012 sont de garder le cap et de prendre graduellement de l'expansion aux États-Unis. On veut faire de la promotion de l'autre côté de la frontière et augmenter notre champ de recrutement. On aimerait bien attirer des boxeurs américains dans notre giron.

Lucian a connu une autre très bonne année et je lui donnerais une note de 9 sur 10. Il a accompli un travail énorme, mais il n'y a rien de parfait et il y a encore du travail à faire. En ce qui me concerne, je me donnerais une note de 7 sur 10. Je pense que je peux faire encore mieux et je dois continuer à travailler fort comme je le fais tout le temps.
