Rising heavyweight and Commonwealth champion Sam Sexton 13-1 (6) is using the snow to his advantage in getting in the best possible shape for his big bout against British champion Danny Williams 41-8 (13) on February 13th.
Anybody seen Rocky 4 where Rocky goes to Russia and trains in the snow? Well Sexton is doing similar. His conditioning trainer Neil Featherby is the owner of two wolf dogs and they have been with him on his roadwork in the current poor conditions in the UK.
“Doing roadwork while trying to keep control of two dogs isn’t easy. But they are helping to build up my strength ahead of the Williams fight and that’s exactly what I need at the moment. Danny’s a great fighter but as far as his career is concerned, the wolves are beginning to circle. He will need a silver bullet to beat me at Wembley and I plan on knocking him out and taking the British heavyweight title in style” Sexton told the regional Eastern Daily Press newspaper.
Williams versus Sexton is the main event of a cracking Frank Warren promoted “Night of the Champions” in London. Prospects featured will include Kell Brook, Kevin Mitchell, Derek Chisora and Olympians James DeGale, Frankie Gavin and Billy Joe Saunders.
