These people did a wonderful job on my windows. I intend to go back to them to have my windshield painted. Thanks 😊If you want to add a great look and some extra benefits that you might not even know about, then auto window tinting might be for you. This article aims to help you understand the different categories of window tint available and also explain the many benefits above and beyond the appearance of tinting your car.

Tinted Window Film – This is a very popular and valuable choice of window film for vehicles. This type places a layer of dyed polyester between an adhesive and a scratch-resistant top layer for a flat, non-reflective finish. It’s often the entry-level option because it’s the cheapest. Although it doesn’t block as much heat as other options, it has great anti-glare effects and still cuts 99% of UV rays.

Hybrid Metallic Film – For the best performance while keeping the price relatively affordable, you can tint your windows with Hybrid Metallic Film. The advantages here are that the metal layer allows the film to reduce a much greater amount of heat compared to painted films. However, this comes at the cost of a slightly more reflective appearance and possible interference with the electronics.

Carbon Window Film – Carbon window tinting has become a very popular option. They typically reduce similar amounts of heat as metal hybrid film while maintaining the great look of tinted window film. They also do not interfere with electronic systems. However, this comes at a price. Carbon window films are generally available at an intermediate price point.

Ceramic or Infrared Film – These films represent the best tint you can get for your vehicle. These films typically look great and are non-reflective while rejecting industry-leading amounts of heat. These films also do not interfere with electronics. However, since they do almost everything well, be prepared to pay a little more for this type of shade than some of the others.

Lower temperatures in your car – All tinted windows will help reduce heat in your vehicle, but some will reduce heat more than others (we’ll discuss this below). It keeps that pesky summer heat where it belongs: out of your vehicle!

Reduced Glare – Since car tinting reduces visible light by a few degrees, it can also help keep you from being blinded by dangerous glare on sunny days. Like a pair of high quality sunglasses on a clear day.

Less eye strain – As mentioned above, window tint reduces glare. Reduced glare means your eyes have to work a lot less to stay focused on the road. Some people even report fewer headaches and migraines when driving after installing window tinting.

Greater UV protection – Glass sheet is like giving your car windows an amazing layer of sunscreen. Most quality films block 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, so you’re protected from the leading cause of melanoma, premature aging and cataracts. Additional security – Window tinting can reduce the risk of a vandal seeing something valuable inside. Crimes of opportunity are a huge form of theft, and making your items less visible can make you less likely to get hacked.

Reduce the risk of broken glass – Some glass films can actually reduce the risk of injury from broken glass. If your car is hit in an impact, the strong adhesive of shatter-resistant film holds the pieces of glass together, which can help keep you safer in an accident.

We wanted to share this guide to vehicle window tinting to help you better understand vehicle window film so you can make an informed decision the next time you have a tinted vehicle.

If you’re like most people, you probably assume that every window tint on your car is the same. Sure, it comes in different shades of darkness and maybe even different levels of reflectivity, but it’s basically the same thing, right? Not exactly. The truth is that the world’s increasingly advanced technology has created significant differences that are important to understand before tinting the windows of your next car.

Let’s start this guide to car window tinting with a little history of the evolution of car window tinting. At the same time, and not so long ago, vehicle window tinting basically fell into two simple categories; main painted polyester foil and glass foils with a metallized layer.

First, you had the dyed polyester base film. This was usually cheap and just gave your windows the tinted look you were looking for without much effect on performance. These painted films usually have a limited shelf life. They usually begin to turn purple after three to five years of sun exposure. We’re sure you’ve already noticed examples of this type of film doing the rounds. This film often looked great the day it was installed and then slowly faded to an unwanted purple.

The other color option for the car was metallic film, which integrated a layer of metal to the painted polyester. This gave a nuanced look, providing some heat rejection. These wraps cost more than painted wraps and are considered an upgrade option in most stores. The performance was better and the film lasted longer because of the metal layer. The downside of these metallic films was that they were more reflective (due to the metallic layer) and could interfere with the car’s electronics and antenna systems. In addition, the glare caused by the metal layer often means that these films do not match well with factory tinted windows in SUVs, trucks and minivans.

Unfortunately, for many years these were the only two window tinting options anyone had when looking to tint their vehicle windows. The supposed “good” painted film and the “best” variant of metallic film. Nor was it truly perfect.

Well, we are happy to say that those days are over! In 2022, you have a set of new high-tech possibilities. These films do not turn purple, are non-reflective and can reject a significant amount of heat without being dark. These new films are light years ahead of historic vehicle window films and should be considered when painting your next vehicle.

Unlike traditional window tints, which need to be darker or metallic to get any really meaningful performance, these new films block heat through infrared blocking technology. This allows them to be almost transparent and yet block a significant amount of heat.

Benefits Of Window Tinting

Another important note is that these films create a protective barrier against the sun’s harmful UV rays for both of you.
